DPF Diagnostics Before Cleaning
A warning light or high soot reading does not automatically mean the filter should simply be cleaned. DPF loading can be linked to short journeys, failed regeneration, pressure or temperature sensors, EGR faults, injector problems, turbocharger issues, incorrect oil or other engine faults.
Diagnosis may include fault-code checks, live data, differential-pressure readings and assessment of regeneration conditions. Identifying the cause helps reduce the risk of the filter blocking again.
Professional DPF Cleaning
Where cleaning is suitable, the process is selected according to filter condition and vehicle requirements. Some vehicles may be suitable for a controlled regeneration or an on-vehicle procedure; others may require filter removal for specialist cleaning. We will explain the recommended route after diagnosis.
A damaged, melted, oil-contaminated or end-of-life filter may not be recoverable through cleaning and could require replacement or further engine repair.
After the DPF Has Been Cleaned
Any underlying fault should be resolved and relevant values checked before the vehicle is returned to normal use. Driving pattern, correct low-ash engine oil and timely investigation of warning lights all affect future DPF operation. We provide advice relevant to the vehicle and the findings.

Frequently Asked Questions
What are common signs of a blocked DPF?
Possible signs include a DPF or engine warning light, reduced power, frequent regeneration, increased fuel use, cooling fans running after a journey or the vehicle entering a restricted-performance mode.
Will motorway driving always clear a DPF?
No. A suitable uninterrupted journey may help only when the vehicle is capable of completing regeneration and the loading is within a safe range. It will not correct a failed sensor, engine fault, excessive ash loading or damaged filter.
Can every DPF be cleaned?
No. Cleaning suitability depends on soot and ash loading, contamination, physical condition and the underlying fault. Damaged or melted filters may require replacement.
How much does DPF cleaning cost?
The cost depends on diagnosis, vehicle access, whether removal is required and the cleaning method. Provide the registration number and symptoms for a vehicle-specific quotation.
